Once upon a time in a land called Cornwall there was a traveling show. There were lots of things in the show including clowns and acrobats but the people's favorite was a little elephant called Lfunt.

One Christmas Lfunt was feeling sad. The life in the circus was all he had ever known. He had no  family of his own and did not know where he had come from or where he really belonged. He decided it was time he went on a journey to find out.

Lfunt made lots of plans and when he was ready he decided to seek the advice of  the Magic Man about the best way to start his quest.

The Magic Man was fixing up his caravan and painting a big sign saying 'Circus' on its side. He listened to Lfant's sad story and then looked in his big sack, where he kept his book of spells and potions, but could not find anything that would help Lfant  in his journey back to his home.

"There is nothing written  here that mentions Lfants. I think the best  thing you can do is go and see a wise woman called Nanny Nankervis who lives near St Just. She will find out where you came from and advise you what to do".

The Magic man gave him directions and so,  without further ado, Lfunt picked up his suitcase and set off along Penzance quay towards Chapel Street and the road north to find her.

Lfunt walked out of Penzance and took  what he thought was the road towards St Just. However, after walking for a long time he found that the road ended and he was standing on a cliff looking out to sea. He saw a woman standing at the door of a little house with a sign on the side which read "The Last House In England". He asked the woman where the road to St Just had gone?

Mrs Thomas had once spent a week with the pixies, so was not surprised when the little elephant spoke.

"You're on the wrong road me 'ansome. This 'ere is the Land's End an' if you keep goin' the next place you come across is America. Mind you, you will have to be good swimmer to reach 'en"

"But I want to go to St Just" said Lfunt.

"Oh my lore; you'm a bit lost. You need to go back past the Quaker burial ground and take the road off to the left. You can't miss 'en" and with that she closed the door, leaving poor Lfunt all by himself once again. He picked up his suitcase and started to retrace his steps.

After a while he felt so tired that he decided to take a rest in a field full of daffodils where he soon fell fast asleep. When he awoke he saw by the sun that it would soon be dark and he discovered he was not alone.

Lfunt could see fairies working on the flowers while one stood guard on top of the Cornish hedge.

"Excuse me said Lfunt, but could you help  me to find Nanny Nankervis?"

The guardian fairy flew over to him and said she would take him to St Just with the help of the readers of this story.
